Doc plants to the rescue in Dingle.

If you ever visit Ireland, Dingle is a must see! We loved it and is now our favorite...it just keeps getting better.

We arrived without a place to stay, suprise, suprise. And again God is so good. We happened upon a B&B to ask where the closest hostels were. A woman running down the stairs asking, "how many?, what do you need?" It was honestly like a scene out of a movie, as she addressed us with her loudest Irish hospitality. She rushed us into her van and took us to her newly renovated B&B, and cut us a hostel price deal, with "a view of the harbor", a five foot glimpse between two buildings across the street. Sold! Privacy and a hot shower, wonderful.

We awoke to a typical Irish morning of fog, drizzle and mist, but no complaints we're on extended holiday. Nothing rains on this parade. So we headed down to the Mountain Man Shop to find a hike...thanks Rick Steve's. We ended up on a harbor walk. It was great. We were serenaded by the sounds of assorted livestock, we were warned that we would be walking through curious cows, goats and sheeps, and that we were. Petting Zoo anyone? Bonus!!! Trekking through manure and dodging a stampede of cattle in chacos...dream come true. A true Irish
experience, including dramatic cliffs, coastline, lighthouse and the ruins of some kind of castle thing...see them everyday. OH! Have we mentioned our friend FUNGI? No? Oh, well he is the infamous Dingle Bay dolphin. Some say he is around 53 years old. Age is but a number, we enjoyed watching him leap and frolic throughout the Dingle Bay waves. Show off, but we fell for it and bought t-shirts...we also fell for him. Oh and he does have a statue in the town center. Rain doesn't keep us from making the most of everyday. Thank you, Fungi, Rick Steve's and cows.
We decided to end our evening with a night in the Dingle Pub for music. We are soaking up the traditional music on the west coast. We struck up conversation with a couple Americans and our Italian friend, Francesco, but he prefered to be called Fran after "the nanny." We will share a little piece of our night with you below. Fran was hysterical.
Another day in Dingle. We're convinced we may have some control over the weather forecast in Ireland. When we hike it rains. When we pick up a bike we always need sunscreen. We were told Slea Head route around the Dingle Peninsula was a must. So once again we forced our bums back on the saddle and went. Just a short 40km, for babies. We rented our bikes at Foxy John's, a bar, hardware store and bike shop in one. Were there men drinking Guinness at 10:30AM?? You bet.

We hit the trail and immediately we were in awe. The cliffs, the waves, the 40 shades of green, the blues, the spray painted sheep, etc, were brilliant. We decided to take in the views by tresspassing to a point and enjoying our Subway lunch overlooking the cliffs. This had to be documented. Photographer Kelly set the timer and "OUCH! STING! What was that?" Kelly noticed that her arm started to break out in a rash and could not enjoy her Subway, as she worried about her arm inflating to the size of a sausage. We decided to stop at the next cafe, but found a tour bus sooner. The cutest Irish bus driver was quick to Kelly's rescue recognizing the rash as a sting from a nettle plant. His boyscout intuitions quickly led him to the Doc leaf, which he strapped to Kelly's arm to relieve the stinging pain. It worked! Eat it Bear Grills! Amy and Kelly vs. Wild. Who wins? Guess. Apparently this is something every Irish child is warned about...now we know and we were free to enjoy the day. We can't even the gorgeous views. We thought of all our friends that would have loved and appreciated the experience. We are becoming avid bikers here in Ireland.

P.S. Kelly's arm still itches, but was temporarily relieved by grandma's emergency adventure kit. Thanks grandma!

Parting with Dingle was sad, but our excited for our next connection in Tralee where we have been treated like queens!!! Coffee, wine, chocolate and....CLEAN LAUNDRY!! Yea yea yea!!!
Thanks again for the prayer and support. We love you!
